Toledo Blade false information

A conversation with the newspaper's ombudsman

SUBJECT: false information in the Toledo Blade #0810d, tedium

I am with the media, am on a deadline and I am writing about you, an apologist for Block Communications, Inc. and Allan Block. See this message and any response at http://creditscoring.com/interaction/2016/11/.

You published, "'My opponent is working out the details with [Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid (R., Nev.) and [House Majority Leader] Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) their plans to raise your taxes, increase spending, and concede defeat in Iraq,' he said."

Troy, T. (2008, October 30). McCain tells Defiance crowd he ll cut taxes to get nation moving again. Toledo Blade. Retrieved from http://www.toledoblade.com/Politics/2008/10/30/McCain-tells-Defiance-crowd-he-ll-cut-taxes-to-get-nation-moving-again.html

That is not true. Rep. Pelosi has never had the position Majority Leader. What are the names of the people, if any, who reviewed that article before it was published? The writer does not know and referred me to you. Is the majority leader even in the line of succession to the presidency?

Where and when, if at all, was a correction published? #0810d

You also published, "The credit score, once a little-known metric derived from a complex formula that incorporates outstanding debt and payment histories, has become an increasingly important number used to bestow credit, determine housing, and even distinguish between job candidates." #Myth2

SILVER-GREENBERG, J. (2012, December 30). 'What's your score?' now a big question in romance. Toledo Blade. Retrieved from http://www.toledoblade.com/Economy/2012/12/30/Whats-your-score-now-a-big-question-in-romance.html

That is not true. Employers do not use credit scores. I looked into it. Years before that article, three national credit bureaus all stated that they do not provide credit scores for employment purposes. I documented that. http://www.creditscoring.com/myths/#myth2

At this point, your continued maintenance of that false New York Times information is preposterous (and comical). In fact, also prior to the article, Times' Arthur Sulzberger published, "Employers don’t use credit scores in employment screening, but they can and do access credit reports." #brydretorneth

Carrns, A. (2011, November 08). No Link Seen Between Low Credit Scores and Bad Job Behavior. Retrieved November 29, 2016, from http://bucks.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/11/08/no-link-seen-between-low-credit-scores-and-bad-job-behavior/

I tried to tell you. http://www.pagea2.com/new-york-times-syndicated-error-about-credit-scores/ - #syndicatederror

Another publication in your organization, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, published a item that falsely states, "Democrats are squarely behind Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California as their nominee, but that choice almost certainly will not survive a vote of the full House, where the GOP holds its biggest majority in decades."

Mauriello, T. (2015, October 7). Candidates jockey for House Speaker Boehner's job. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Retrieved from http://www.post-gazette.com/news/nation/2015/10/07/Candidates-jockey-for-Speaker-Boehner-s-job/stories/201510070113

In addition to the same glaring error of fundamental history, notice the horrible coding: An errant non-breaking space; two errors in one sentence.

Acknowledge your errors. Make corrections today.

Yesterday, when we talked about the history of my country, the United States of America, you told me to send you a message in writing. Give this message to the top person of your organization. I believe that is Allan Block, Block Communications, Inc. (#n3817).
