False information, Greenville Daily Reflector #Myth2

North Carolina newspaper publishes Credit Score Myth 2 (that employers use credit scores), error disappears #1701m

There is enough information -- false and otherwise -- about credit scores. More pages do not equal a better understanding by the public (and, obviously, academics). #dotEDU

You wrote, falsely, "Banks, finance companies, insurance companies and even employers look at your credit report and your credit score." #1701m

Employers do not use credit scores. I looked into it. There are only 500 days until the 10th anniversary of statements by the national credit reporting agencies that they do not provide credit scores for employment purposes.

What are you doing about your error? #falsity

Reply today. See the information in the internet domain creditscoring.com about Credit Score Myth 2. I am sick and tired of your blithe silly nonsense. The urban legend that you spread is horrible and is not going away.

Do not write about credit scores again. #MYTH2

After the message above, the error just disappeared. Now the sentence is "Banks, finance companies, insurance companies and even employers look at your credit report or your credit score" ("and your credit score" replaced by "or your credit score").

You wrote, falsely, "Remember your credit score (credit report) is your No. 1 financial asset and the portal for not only borrowing money but also for jobs and even insurance."

That is false information. Employers do not use credit scores. I looked into it. #1601ab

See this message and your response at http://creditscoring.com/interaction/2017/01/east-carolina.html [this page].

You wrote, falsely, "The FICO credit score is derived from a mathematical formula that uses information taken from your credit report, such as the number of cards you have, the balance owed on each card, late payments for any loan, and the total number of consumer loans as a percentage of gross annual income."

Karns, J. E. (2011, November 20). Financial health: Clearing credit score confusion. Financial health: Clearing credit score confusion. Retrieved January 23, 2017, from http://www.reflector.com/Business/2011/11/20/Financial-health-Clearing-credit-score-confusion.html

That is false information because income is not used to create FICO credit scores.

You are wrong. [#1111d]
