The Credit Scoring Site A bleak account

False information published by Forbes, Part 1

Employers do not use credit scores, but Forbes lets people say that employers do so

| By Greg Fisher

Employers do not use credit scores. The three main credit reporting agencies made that clear a long, long time ago.

However, information subsequently published by media company Forbes falsely states, "Insurers use credit scores to set premium rates, and employers use them when making hiring decisions."

That was written by Caroline Mayer who states on the same Forbes page: "I am a consumer blogger for Next Avenue, a website for baby boomers from PBS. I spent 25 years working for The Washington Post."

Also for Forbes, Ilana Greene falsely wrote, "Lenders, landlords and even some employers use credit scores to help determine an applicant’s desirability." The troubling thing there is the use of the intensive word even. There is a whole thing on that.

Assuming you aren't a credit score expert, here is a clear litmus test that Forbes failed.

Marisa Dellatto falsely wrote, "[U.S. Rep. Ilhan] Omar has called for Boebert to be stripped of her committee appointments by Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi and [Rep. Kevin] McCarthy."

Pelosi has never been Majority Leader. She is Speaker. Steny Hoyer is Majority Leader. Even the headline is false: Nobody named Mccarthy has ever been Speaker of the House.
