False information published by the New York Times, Part 1
Deep dive; goes back to a long, long time ago. Employers do not use credit scores, but that consumer finance information is just a sideshow.

In a New York Times article dated March 4, 2022, Ann Carrns falsely wrote: "Credit reports and scores are used by lenders to determine if you qualify for a loan, and what interest rate you pay. Employers and landlords use them to screen applicants for jobs and apartments."
The same article states, "And, Ms. Wu said, some credit score users, like employers and landlords, may look at your full credit report, not just your score."
Wu is Chi Chi Wu, a lawyer with the National Consumer Law Center.
Employers do not use credit scores because they cannot even get them. The credit bureaus who control access to those scores made that clear in 2008. You can read their statements in the internet domain creditscoring.com.
