Employers do not use credit scores, and Mitch McConnell has never been the Senate majority leader.

In 2008, the three main national consumer reporting agencies all stated that they do not even provide credit scores for employment purposes.

Despite that, cnbc.com republished a New York Times article that states, "The credit score, once a little-known metric derived from a complex formula that incorporates outstanding debt and payment histories, has become an increasingly important number used to bestow credit, determine housing and even distinguish between job candidates."
