Red Ventures false information about credit scores 20190216
Credit Score Myth 2 continues despite clear information to the contrary
| By Greg Fisher
Employers do not use credit scores because they cannot even get them. The credit bureaus do not sell scores for employment purposes.
Falsity remains.

Hi Mr. Fischer,
I received a note from our office manager at the Red Ventures corporate headquarters that you are hoping to connect with someone at the company. She said that you left a message. However, I don’t have one on my voicemail. Is there something we can help you with?
Best,
Katie Yates

That is not true. Employers do not use credit scores.

You wrote, "In addition, many employers make decisions about hiring and/or promoting based on a person's credit score and many insurance companies review credit reports to establish premium rates."
However, the second link in that sentence leads to a CreditCards.com document in which the only mention of credit scores is this: "He [Steven Katz, TransUnion spokesman] adds that these reports are often used when hiring for positions involving access to funds, trade secrets, client assets and sensitive personal information. (Katz stresses that consumers' credit reports -- not credit scores -- are used in such cases.)"

I'm the king of Bavaria.
Who is your source?
If you say that employers use credit scores, then you should be able to name at least two such employers. But, I'm feeling generous. Name one.

To your Highness the Honorable Greg Fisher King of Bavaria:
Thanks for your inquiry and I am deeply flattered that you keep reading my work on the internet and in the Rapid City Journal. I really enjoy interaction with my loyal and dedicated fans.
To answer your question I personally know of 3 businesses here in Rapid City, SD (not the 1 you ask for but 3) that use a credit report in conjunction with the CREDIT SCORE that is provided on a tri-merge credit report that help them make decisions in both the hiring process and when it is time for a promotion.
The credit report and CREDIT SCORE are not the sole determining factors used but are part of an overall evaluation for employment and advancement. A CREDIT SCORE is not exclusively used but is taken into consideration as an overall picture along with references, length of employment, experience, and attitude.
I hope this answers your question and by all means keep reading my articles.
Thanks,
Todd Ossenfort

SUBJECT: RE: credit score, employers, CreditCards.com III, Rapid City Journal II, Believers
New pages like yours appear at the top of internet news searches. They lose rank with time, but add to a growing volume that say that employers use credit scores. Critical mass for your side, the Believers, has been reached, and was even bolstered significantly recently (with equal disregard for substantiation) by the Federal Reserve, as well as by many others.
You did not answer the question. It is about your sources who know that credit scores are used for employment purposes, clarified with a challenge to provide the actual name of only one source. Your response is, essentially, that you got the information from some guys you know. So, perhaps, you could provide some insight another way: By giving the name of a company who provides the tri-merge credit report and score.
Or not: You seem to have knowledge of a Black Hills black market for credit scores, a compelling story. As I pointed out, the link in your article contradicts your claim, and earns CreditCards.com places in both columns, Believers, and Nonbelievers. So, how does it happen? Does the credit report company supply the scores in violation of its contract with TransUnion or one of the other two national consumer reporting agencies? Do the employers buy the scores from the credit report company, or do your employer acquaintances force the employee to purchase the report and score on their own and turn it over to human resources?
It would be easy to just take at face value the claims of an organization with, indeed, the name CreditCards.com (or Federal Reserve). After all, you are the expert. On the other hand, your company's website says that income is a credit score factor. Since it is not, anything you write (or say) is suspect.
Consider the citizens.
