Subject: RE: false information maintained by KPRC-TV (n53117), civics, Myth 2, help, megawatt use

Ms. Davis:

If I had a nickel for every time somebody told me that they're 'on deadline' or heading to a meeting, I could quit tomorrow. Your industry's timeline is a clichéd anachronism of an earlier time. I don't care. Your credit score story is not news and remains intact. Get over yourself and correct it. Employers do not use credit scores. I looked into it.

  1. You failed to answer my question: What is the name of the person who has the authority to make a correction? Your website is false.
  2. What is your supervisor's name?
  3. What are the names of your sources?
  4. If, as you say, "Every hard credit inquiry lowers your score by a few points," then what does Fair Isaac, the credit score company, mean by "For many people, one additional credit inquiry (voluntary and initiated by an application for credit) may not affect their FICO score at all"?

Further, what you claim is mathematically impossible. If every inquiry is a few points, and inquiries are part of a category of factors that is only 10 percent of a score, then the potential effect of inquiries is finite. The range of a popular credit score is 551 (a scale of 300 to 850). 10 percent is 55. If "a few" is 3, then 55 is reached at 19 inquiries. Are you suggesting that 100 inquiries will lower a score by 300 points? Will 200 take an 850 to 300?

I told another company, "I forced you to change your website."

Credit Score Myth 1 creates neurotic citizens and stifles economic activity.

  5. John Boehner was not Majority Leader in 2014. However, a 2014 article (indeed, by a man in your state #TX #n528) on your organization's website states, falsely, "Earlier this week, House Majority Leader John Boehner[SIC] told lawmakers the GOP-led House may vote to undo Obama's executive action, but the move would be mostly symbolic, as Obama would certainly veto such legislation and the Democratic-led Senate wouldn't go for it, either."

That is a veracity test–using a point of world history so fundamental that there can be no wriggle room for the people behind a false statement. Your company does not state that 2 plus 2 equals 5, but I found second-best. The point is to determine if the people of an entity (yours in this case) actually care about fact. In other words, if a man is so tone-deaf that he won't even correct a stark, blatant error of obvious history and fact, any discussion of a nuance of consumer reporting is probably pointless.

John Boehner was Speaker, not Majority Leader, in 2014. Kevin McCarthy is Majority Leader, and was in December, 2014, the date of the article. See the official history of the United States of America.

I don't know how to make that any clearer.

  6. Our relationship is not on a first-name basis. Take it seriously. Your report is false.
  7. In what year did you become an expert?
  8. I don't need help.

7 years ago, you could find many who said that employers use credit scores, but that's not true, today. What's your excuse for telling your viewers that–some guy making a prediction? The inquiries issue is no different. it's just early-on.

What is the date and time of your on-air correction? If you refuse to make one, reply to this message and state so.
