Correction of The Week, Part 1
False accounts of the history of The United States of America from The Week, Dennis Publishing, Exponent Private Equity LLP

PERSON: Richard Lenane [his email address is public]
NUMBER: #n1138891
ENTITY: The Week (theweek.com) Dennis Publishing, Exponent Private Equity LLP
INCIDENT: #1608W
ERROR: Error 9 #Error9
MYTH: Credit Score Myth 2 #Myth2
Brendan Morrow made a false statement that was published in "The Week." The subsequent correction contains an error.
This month, in the same publication, Jeff Spross wrote, "These days, nearly two thirds of employers reportedly use credit histories when assessing applicants (though they can't see the actual score), even though there's effectively no evidence those reports are a predictor of an employee's quality or character."
However, Shaun Plum and Matthew Walther each falsely wrote that employers do use credit scores while, actually, employers do not use credit scores.
Falsity remains.

In your first sentence, you wrote, "The differences between Attorney General William Barr's and Special Counsel Robert Mueller's conclusion on obstruction are night and day, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said on Thursday."
That is not true. Schumer is not Majority Leader and has never been Majority Leader of any legislative body. Who is your editor?
Also, Shaun Plum wrote, "Many employers check a candidate's credit score during the application process, especially for upper-level management and executive positions that require more responsibility, especially of budgets."
That is false. Employers do not use credit scores. I looked into it a long time ago.
And, Matthew Walther wrote: "Credit scores are used not only by companies deciding which shade of silver plastic they will be happy to send you in the mail or by banks deciding how much interest they will charge you on your home loan — or whether you are even worthy of the privilege of being charged interest. They're also used by employers, including the federal and various state governments, in the process of hiring." #falsity
What is Walther's email address?

There is an error in your correction, Ms. Meza: "Editor's note: An earlier version of this story misstated Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's title. It has sine been corrected. We regret the error."
